A recently uncovered official document confirms that as early as 1968, the Municipality of Pratdip had been asked to integrate the urbanization of Planas del Rey and had even given its agreement in principle to do so.
A Collective and Formal Initiative from the Property Owners
On 8 August 1968, the property owners of Planas del Rey, gathered in a general assembly, made a clear decision: to transfer to the Municipality of Pratdip the management of the infrastructure and public services of the urbanization. This intention concerned in particular:
- The roads and streets
- The drinking water network
- The sewage system
- Public lighting
Soon after, the developer at the time, Francisco Lebasque Belloncle, supported this initiative in writing, officially asking the municipality to take over the management of these infrastructures, as well as other services such as waste collection, security, and the management of communal areas.
A Principle Agreement from the Municipality
In response to these requests, the municipal council of Pratdip met and, on 18 October 1968, decided to agree in principle to take over the public services of Planas del Rey. This decision was to come into effect on 12 January 1969, subject to a technical and administrative opinion from the Provincial Service of Inspection and Assistance to Local Corporations.
In his letter dated 23 December 1968, the mayor personally notified this decision to the competent authorities and requested their official opinion.
An Integration That Remained Incomplete
While this document clearly proves that the process did take place, it also highlights a key element: the municipality’s acceptance was conditional. The available archives do not currently allow us to determine whether the required opinion was favorable, nor whether an official act of reception was signed.
This administrative uncertainty, combined with political maneuvers and regulatory developments, probably explains why, more than 55 years later, the urbanization remains in an uncertain situation, neither fully integrated nor completely abandoned.
Facts, Not Interpretations
This document contradicts the claims of some who, out of ignorance or convenience, continue to assert that no integration request was ever made or that the municipality never considered taking over Planas del Rey.
Beyond opinions and interpretations, it is now up to everyone to form an opinion based on official, accessible, and verifiable documents.
