Each year, the Pratdip Town Hall<\/span> receives a subsidy of nearly \u20ac300,000<\/span>, granted under the Plan de Desarrollo Socioecon\u00f3mico del Entorno Nuclear<\/em>. This aid comes from ANAV<\/a> (Asociaci\u00f3n Nuclear Asc\u00f3-Vandell\u00f2s), to compensate for the proximity to the Vandell\u00f2s nuclear power plant<\/span>.<\/p>\n

This public funding is not a gift. It has a clear purpose: to protect and improve the living conditions of people exposed to nuclear risk<\/span>. And among them, Planas del Rey is on the front line<\/span>, just a few kilometers from the reactor.<\/p>\n

Planas, the great forgotten one<\/h2>\n

And yet, this subsidy, which is supposed to improve safety in high-risk zones, brings no benefit whatsoever to Planas del Rey<\/span>. No evacuation plan, no warning sirens, no adapted infrastructure. Nothing.<\/p>\n

For decades, this subsidy has been granted to the municipality. The streets of Planas could have been renovated several times<\/span>, alert systems installed, and safety equipment deployed. Instead, residents still live on degraded roads, with insufficient public lighting and no prevention systems in case of nuclear accident.<\/p>\n

The Pratdip Town Hall allocates all these funds to the central village alone, deliberately ignoring the hundreds of families living in Planas, who are much closer to the nuclear plant.<\/p>\n

A political scandal in the use of public funds?<\/h2>\n

This blatant misuse of the subsidy\u2019s purpose raises a serious question: is the safety of residents being sacrificed for political favoritism?<\/span><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s remember that these public funds are meant for all exposed citizens, not just a selected few. By focusing the aid solely on the village, the town hall uses a strategic subsidy as a political tool<\/span>, at the expense of equity and safety for the rest of the municipality.<\/p>\n

\n

Unworthy evacuation routes for a nuclear risk zone<\/h2>\n

\"Planas<\/p>\n

In the event of an accident at the Vandell\u00f2s nuclear plant, two routes allow the inhabitants of Planas del Rey to flee the area: Exit A towards Vandell\u00f2s i l\u2019Hospitalet de l\u2019Infant<\/span> and Exit B towards Pratdip<\/span>.<\/p>\n

Both routes pass through a forest area with high fire risk<\/span>. They include sharp bends, narrow lanes, and bridges too narrow to allow smooth evacuation traffic.<\/p>\n

Exit A<\/span>, although marked and partially lit, remains insufficiently equipped for an emergency<\/span>. It lies within the territory of Vandell\u00f2s i l\u2019Hospitalet de l\u2019Infant, but no major works have been carried out to make it a secure evacuation route.<\/p>\n

As for Exit B towards Pratdip<\/span>, it lacks any lighting or markings, and its narrow bridge is a serious bottleneck.<\/p>\n

Despite the \u20ac300,000 annual envelope<\/span> specifically intended for nuclear risk areas, nothing has been done to secure these access roads<\/span>.<\/p>\n

And in case of fire?<\/span> These roads, surrounded by vegetation, with no secondary exits or waiting zones, would quickly become deadly traps<\/span>.<\/p>\n

International conventions and the protection of residents<\/h2>\n

It is important to recall that Spain<\/span> has signed several conventions with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA)<\/span>, including the Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident<\/em> (1986) and the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material<\/em> (1986, amended in 2007). These commitments oblige the Spanish State to establish prevention and protection plans for populations<\/span> exposed to nuclear risk.<\/p>\n

In this context, the absence of clearly marked and secure evacuation routes<\/span> for the residents of Planas del Rey<\/span> represents a blatant contradiction with these international obligations. Given that the Vandell\u00f2s<\/span> nuclear power plant is located just a few kilometres away, the right to a rapid and organised evacuation should be an absolute priority for the authorities.<\/p>\n

\n

Conclusion: demand accountability and end the injustice<\/h2>\n

It is unacceptable that the most exposed<\/span> and most populated<\/span> area of the whole municipality is entirely excluded from this vital support. This is no longer an oversight: it is deliberate neglect<\/span>.<\/p>\n

We demand that the Pratdip Town Hall be held accountable<\/span> for the use of the \u20ac300,000<\/span> it receives each year and that these funds finally be distributed fairly. Planas del Rey deserves:<\/p>\n
