Before the session began, \u00d3scar Serrano (AvP)<\/span> requested permission to record the proceedings, noting that previous minutes often contained errors that were unfavorable to the two AvP councillors.<\/p>\n Categorical refusal<\/span> from the mayor and his allies from Junts per Catalunya (JxC)<\/span>.<\/p>\n AvP requested corrections to several items in the last two meeting minutes. After discussion, the corrections were eventually accepted.<\/p>\n Key question<\/span> to the mayor: were the neighboring towns of Montroig and Hospitalet informed that our wastewater treatment plant has been out of service for more than two years, and that all sewage has been discharged into the barranco during that time? The mayor confirmed they were informed.<\/p>\n All fiscal ordinances<\/span> were adjusted according to the CPI, except for the property tax (IBI). This results in a general increase of 1%<\/span>.<\/p>\n However, the household waste collection fee is increasing by 10%<\/span>. The mayor, Joan M. Rovira Vernet (JxC), explained that this is due to past price increases from the company SECOMSA that had not been reflected until now. A further 14% increase is expected.<\/p>\n AvP pointed out that during the last three council meetings, it had been clearly stated that there would be no tax increases<\/span>. Why the change of position after just three months?<\/p>\n The mayor responded that the council cannot cover the additional costs. SECOMSA is reportedly operating at a loss. The cost of the service exceeds the amount collected.<\/p>\n AvP then asked why not seek another waste collection provider. The mayor responded that SECOMSA is managed by the Baix Camp Regional Council<\/span> and that \u201ceverything is fine as it is.\u201d He also added that if people recycled more, the costs would be lower<\/span>.<\/p>\n AvP voted against, but the increase was approved with five votes (JxC).<\/p>\n On-the-ground observations<\/span>: poor waste collection service, no cleaning of containers or collection points, and insufficient service in Planas during the summer. AvP considers the service precarious<\/span> and suggests making it a key issue in the protest planned for October 26<\/span>.<\/p>\n Following the call for tenders, only one company, MiJ Gruas S.A.<\/span>, submitted a bid. The contract was awarded to them.<\/p>\n AvP abstained.<\/p>\n The agreement was adopted. AvP voted in favor.<\/p>\n Unanimously approved. AvP voted in favor.<\/p>\n
